Message from the Global RCE Service Centre in Yokohama, JapanDear colleagues, We thank all of you for the words of support and concern expressed in connection to the terrible tragedy in Japan, the true extent of which is just being understood. All the colleagues at UNU-IAS are fine and safe. We also received news of safety from colleagues at RCE Greater Sendai Prof. Mikami, Prof. Koganezawa, Prof. Shimano and Ms. Memezawa. Needless to say, we are deeply concerned about other colleagues, their students and teachers who live along the coastal area. We hope that you all noticed that stories coming through the news channels show much more than signs of devastation. They show the resilience, kindness and resourcefulness of the Japanese people. We wish them continuous strength. We also hope that the knowledge of our RCE global community could be mobilised to contribute to the stabilisation of the situation in the country. Our colleagues from Japanese RCEs would be the best guides and partners in understanding and implementing of what could be done. We encourage all of you to think about ideas and actions now or in the future.
With the best wishes, message sent 14 March 2011 |
Message from RCE Greater SendaiDear Global RCE Community, Thank you for your thoughtful words of support and concern. Miyagi University of Education, where the Secretariat of RCE Greater Sendai is located, was less damaged by the earthquake and tsunami. However, Kesennuma and Sendaišs coastal area suffered extensive damage and we have not been able to get a hold of some of our colleagues. We are now facing a critical situation that is totally unsustainable. Despite all the hardships we face, RCE Greater Sendai will do our best to communicate with each other and strive to create a positive future together. I thank all of you for your continuous support.
