Brief description of project

Conference for 200 students learning in schools affiliated to SSAT across the North East region held at Newcastle University, 26th June 2008. Students were accompanied by teachers from their schools. Conference focus was on Sustainability: Resources and Energy; Communities; and Schools. more ...

Expected Outcomes, Success Criteria

Students establish a regional “Sustainability” group to instigate and drive future events and activities for schools.
Schools to submit bids for a grant to support a project on sustainability funded by SSAT.

Method of dissemination and resources to be produced

Report on SSAT Regional Website and RCE Website.
Resources produced by school winning project award to be made available to all NE schools affiliated to SSAT.

Additional information

SSAT has an affiliation membership of 223 schools in the North East. This includes all Maintained Secondary schools, 33 Special Schools and 32 Primary Schools. Schools pay an annual fee for affiliation and activities led by a Regional Steering Group of Headteachers are supported by the Regional Co-ordinator. A student conference is one of the SSAT annual events in the region.
